Our Work
Cambodian Rural Development Team Organization (CRDT) established Community-based Ecotourism (CBET) along the Mekong River to provide alternative livelihood to lift these marginalized communities from poverty and reduce the pressure on natural ressources. After these CBETs were established the team encountered additional problems in making CBET works. For example:

Limited capacity in tourism, hospitality, and English language skills among community members reduces ability to host visitors.

The villages had no electricity and no internet access and couldn't access the tourism market
-
Limited grant funding from donors to support the capacity development of the local community.
Therefore, CRDT Tours was established in 2018. It is a social enterprise and is registered with the Ministry of Commerce and Tourism of Cambodia. CRDT Tours was created to fill the gaps found above as well as to minimize the dependency on grants for Community-based Ecotourism development. CRDT Tours reuses 100% of its profit to support the development of local communities.
As a social enterprise, CRDT Tours leverages the expertise of its team to develop tourism initiatives that create positive impacts for local communities and the environment. We actively seek and pursue opportunities that align with our values and support the vision of our parent organization, the Cambodian Rural Development Team (CRDT).
The CRDT Tours team skill set includes:
1) Community mobilization and engagement
2) Community-based ecotourism capacity development in tourism and hospitality
3) Community service and product quality improvement
4) Community training in solid waste management and awareness-raising
5) Community-based ecotourism marketing and product development
6) Youth skill development in tourism & hospitality

Conducted a community study tour to develop a community development plan, Supported by: CEPF

In October 2023, CRDT Tours took the committees from Koh Preah (Stung Treng) and Koh Tnoat (Kratie) communities on a study tour to Siem Reap province. The communities visited tourism actors in the Banteay Srey district such as Natural Scenery Campsite, Green Homestay, and Flower Garden Khun Ream. Since many of them had never been to Siem Reap, the trip gave us a lot of surprises and highlights. On the last day, the community managed to complete a simple community development both of Koh Preah and Koh Tnoat.

Community-Based Ecotourism Capacity strengthening and structure improvement,

CRDT Tours Co., Ltd. conducted the capacity and structure of Ta Kror Hom Kor community ecotourism located around 60km North of Kratie Town The activities improved the by-law, community product pricing, installing sign boards, food cooking training, and plastic waste management training.

CRDT Tours raised awareness among 1200 households and 50 business organizations in the town of Kraite on plastic waste reuse, reduction, and recycling for the good of the marine environment. The project funded by GIZ and supported by The Asia Foundation.
