Our Work
Cambodian Rural Development Team Organization (CRDT) established community-based ecotourism (CBET) along the Mekong River to provide alternative livelihood to lift these marginalized communities from poverty and reduce the pressure on natural consumption. After these CBETs were established the team encountered additional problems in making CBET works. For example:

Low capacity of community members in tourism & and hospitality in order to host visitors and skill in building travel internally in English.

The community lacked a connection to the market (tourists) due to the low education they had, no electricity in the village and no internet access.

Grant funding from donors in supporting the capacity development of the local community was limited.
Therefore, CRDT Tours was established in 2018. CRDT Tours is a social enterprise. It is registered with the Ministry of Commerce and Tourism of Cambodia. CRDT Tours was created to fill the gaps found above as well as to minimize the dependency on grants for Community-based ecotourism development. CRDT Tours reused 100% of its profit to support the development of local community.
As a social enterprise, CRDT Tours grasped the opportunity that matches its team expertise. CRDT Tours produces a proposal or business plan applying for any development opportunity that benefits the local communities and environment and aligns with its value as well as its mother NGOs CRDT vision.

Conducted community study tour to develop a community development plan

In October 2023, CRDT Tours took the committees from Koh Preah (Stung Treng) and Koh Tnoat (Kratie) communities on a study tour to Siem Reap province. The communities visited tourism actors in the Banteay Srey district such as Natural Scenery Campsite, Green Homestay, and Flower Garden Khun Ream. Since many of them had never been to Siem Reap, the trip gave us a lot of surprises and highlights. On the last day, the community managed to complete a simple community development both of Koh Preah and Koh Tnoat.

Community-Based Ecotourism Capacity strengthening and structure improvement.

CRDT Tours Co., Ltd. is conducting the capacity and structure of Ta Kror Hom Kor community ecotourism located North of Kratie Town around 60km. The activities are improving the by-law, community product pricing, installing sign boards, food cooking training, and plastic waste management training.

CRDT Tours is raising awareness among 1200 households and 50 business organizations in the town of Kraite on plastic waste reuse, reduction, and recycling for the good of the marine environment. The project is supporting by funded by GIZ and supported by The Asia Foundation.
